Hi Paul,

Great to see you guiding everyone on the Certification front over here. You are doing a commendable job and a community service.

I have completed AIS Certification(QC & QTP).I am not interested in knowing any questions or answers for the ASE. Just would like to know the difficulty level and a hint of practical questions posted in the examinations.

Your guidance is highly appreciated.

Hey Garuv,

Congratulations.

First off, definitly take the classes for the advanced exams. I'd say the next level exams are about four times more dificult. These questions can come from anywhere, including read me files. I swear there were one or two questions that I might have gotten right if I had just bothered to memorize the entire support knowledge base.

I found the most difficult and time-consuming portion of the exam were the scenario  questions. These were whole paragraph or two that boil down to "the client has this type of database and that type of app server..." and then you have to choose the correct implementation, as well as know when none of the presented solutions are acceptable.

I really can't get more specific than what I already stated. However, one tip I can give is in test taking in general. I may have posted this before, but it's worth repeating. On my exams, I could indicate that I would like to come back to any question that I was not sure about by checkmarking a small box. My approach was to checkmark the box on every question, enter my answer and proceed to the next question. It really takes away some of the stress knowing that you'll get a second shot at the question. And you know a few of the questions will come around the second time and you'll say "What was I thinking?" and select the more appropriate answer.

I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Paul,

First of all thanks for a wonderful tip and such an amazing response.

Now when you have answered the query so well, be prepared for lot more queries. Smiley

Query 1: Out of the total 63 questions asked in QTP ASE Exam. What's the percentage of practical(if any), scenario based and multiple choice questions.

Query 2: What did you mean to say when you quoted "entire support knowledge base". Is it just the User Guide/Tutorial/Read Me which comes along with the Software or is it the the HP portal on QTP queries, If yes please do provide the link.

Query 3: By Classes did you mean the classes held by HP Training. Please do throw some light on this.

Query 4: How can someone be so polite and precise in answering so many queries, as you do all the time.

Many Thanks,

Unfortunately the ceritification tests are a joke now,, its all about how much money HP can make..

My suggestion, you can have all the certifications in the world, it dont make any difference, you can't call youserlf an automation consultant, you will know something about only one tool, try to learn and use different automation tools, thats going to help you more than just studying for some exam..

Query 1: Out of the total 63 questions asked in QTP ASE Exam. What's the percentage of practical(if any), scenario based and multiple choice questions.

About 10-15 are Scenarios. All are multiple choice.

Query 2: What did you mean to say when you quoted "entire support knowledge base". Is it just the User Guide/Tutorial/Read Me which comes along with the Software or is it the the HP portal on QTP queries, If yes please do provide the link.

Sorry. It was a bit of a joke. There were about three questions that just came out of left field for me. I don't even know if I got them right. But they are there to ensure you really dig a bit before taking the exam. But odds are, even if you guess, you'll get one right. And you're goal is a passing grade, not a perfect score.

Query 3: By Classes did you mean the classes held by HP Training. Please do throw some light on this.
Yup, take the HP classes on the tools. As for Raja's comments, we will have to agree to disagree. The expense is relative, check out a Cisco cert someday in comparison. It also makes you think twice if you think you are ready for the exam. There is a risk of failure, but our whole industry is centered about Risk Mitigation.

But the way I look at it, in this global economy, I am competing with more people than ever in this field. The certification gets my resume to the upper part of the stack.

Query 4: How can someone be so polite and precise in answering so many queries, as you do all the time.

Well, I am flattered. I learned you get more out of positive results from positive responses. Most of it I learned from telling developer's their code "looks like an ugly baby" but in a nice way.

Also people are getting "Googled" more these days, so I always want something positive to pop up.

Best regards,

Paul

Hello Sanjay,

Having taken and passed the HP QC 9.2 Prometric certification Exam, I can say with confidence it is the most challenging test to pass to date. Although the test does not require taking the two supporting training classes, you chances improve significantly if you do so.

The major reason the test is so much more difficult than the prior versions is that you do not have an instance of Quality Center available during the test session.

Now my QTP certifications are from last year's Mercury tests, replacing my older 7.6 Test Suite CPS cert. A few of the questions could be answered by simply using the tool instance provided during the test. If the Prometric QTP exam is like the QC exam, then it is entirely dependant upon you to know the product throughly before entering the room.

Lastly, part of my current responsibilities is to screen candidates. I hold the ones posessing a ProMetric certification in highest regard, as they consistently fall within the Moderate to Expert level of experience.

Hi,

I just stumbled onto this topic and found it verymuch interesting. Though it is an old topic b ut, I would like to appear for AIS - QC certification. I am from Bangalore, India and working as a Project Lead with 9 years QA experience. I do have couple of questions:
1. How much value addition would AIS - QC 9.2 give to my career? If I do not do ASE then would only AIS give me any advantage over non-AIS certified professionals in IT job market?
2. If I want to do ASE after I got AIS certified, can I do it in India? I heard from couple of my friends that you do not have any prometric for ASE - QC in India. Can you please confirm?

Thanks...

Well few days back my company sponsored my HP QTP M16 certification. It is one of the worst certification or actually the only certification I have ever given.

The certification question no way tests your knowledge on QTP and I don't see any value in this certification. I will be posting a article on this soon, when i get time.

But my recommendation to companies and candidates evaluating the value of this certification is that it is a waste of money and doesn't help you any way.

Well since I know this is my own opinion there would those who are against my opinion. But i still wanted to share this info.

Hi Tarun,

I agree with you upto certain extent but HP says that is the just the introductory level test. If we want to appear for the advanced level then we have HP0-M80 to look forward to and its a performance based exam.

I am attaching the exam preparation guide herewith.

Hi Guys,

I want to give the Hp-QTP/QC certification examination but the problem is that i am in Canada and all the information i am able to find says that the only way i can give the certification is if i am in India.

Does any one out here know if and how i can get HP-QTP/QC certified while in Canada?

Hi Abhishek,

All you need to need to do is to register with an APTC in Canada if you want to appear for HP0-M15 or HP0-M16 as these tests are available through Prometric.
