Hi,
I am working as a test engg. for past one year.I use to write test cases for my product, its a web based e learning tool. Now i want to automate my testing process.
I m new to QTP.
My Requirement is:
1.Automatically converting Test Cases written in Excel Sheet to Test Script for QTP.
2.Running those test scripts in QTP and want the report to update my excel sheet ,showing which test cases failed and which passed.

I am not sure i can do this using QTP.If possible how can i achieve this. And do let me know tools for doing so.Even if partial things can be done.

Well, you're gonna need to get your hands dirty, one way or the other.

If you got an EXTREMELY STRONG framework (I really can stress enough the "extremely strong" part), you might be able to pull off some sort of an automatic conversion. It's far more likely that you would use the skeleton of the test cases you've written, and translate them manually into scripts, functions and commands.

As it depends on the details and structure of your existing test-cases, I could tell you more if you'd upload a sample existing test-case.

As for updating the run-status in the original excel, it's relatively easy, and can be done in a few minutes of coding.

So to sum-up, don't get your hopes up about automatic conversion, and in order to get a better assessment, please upload a sample of the existing material.

Thank.
