AdvancedQTP is proud to introduce a new First-Steps learning project - The FR project (Flight Reservation).

Update: The FR Project will officially launch this Saturday (20/01/2008)! Make sure you register with the project staff here. You need to be registered with the project’s staff in order to enjoy the project’s presentations and downloads.

  • This project is much more than just another tutorial or framework. The project is an online course that simulates a "real-world" automation-testing project. The project offers a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience using QTP in real-world projects.
  • While most tutorials present a few isolated technical dilemmas that in the most cases have very little to do with automation projects management, FRP takes an extra step and offers you the opportunity to be involved in all the aspects of carrying out a successful end-to-end automation project.
  • Along the way you will learn a great deal about the different types of testing (Regression, Negative, Sanity, etc.), coverage of system requirements, and how to transform them into code.
  • During my long years of experience I had to deal with genuine issues, both technical and methodological. The fruits of this prolonged effort are now available to you.
  • You will deal with complicated UI problems and queries; data driven issues and distilling system requirements into test cases and, ultimately, code.
  • The FRP project will teach you step-by-step how to design, use of advanced code techniques and cutting-edge testing methodologies (e.g., object-oriented), and much more.
  • Instead of giving you just one perspective and a definite solution to a problem, the FRP project will introduce you to the inherent doubts in choosing one solution out of all the available options. You will review the different considerations, and select the best way to implement a specific solution to the problem.
  • You will learn how to build an automation infrastructure, define an automation framework from scratch, according to the AUT requirements specifications.
  • The FRP project will be fully detailed and documented. However, because of its extraordinary depth and breadth, we are opening a dedicated forum to better address your learning needs. Besides asking questions, you can suggest new, different or more efficient solutions, provide us with feedback, and request further elaborations on the different subjects we’ll touch upon.
  • The FRP project is based on a weekly presentation.
  • If you still have question or doubts, the AdvancedQTP team is opening for you a new Forum, "FRP Project" where you can ask any questions you may have about the process.
  • The FRP Forum will give you "technical support" from the people who were involved in the beta process and from the AdvancedQTP’s team.
  • in The FRP forum you can also put your feedback, suggest new, different and more efficient solutions from what you experienced,
  • The FRP project is your first step to become a QTP/Automation professional.
  • The FRP project will be launched on Saturday, January 19, 2008, with the first presentation, titled "Building and Setting-up the Infrastructure".
  • The AdvancedQTP team is looking for volunteers to participate in the beta process of the project. As a volunteer, you will be able to learn more, influence how the project develops, increase your experience and review the presentations before they are posted.
  • The volunteers should have some experience in QA, preferable with a little programming background. experience in automation is not required at all.
  • Help us provide the best for the "First Steps" community. To participate in the beta process please Contact Me. Update - We have filled the quota for this phase of the beta program - Thank you all for your enthusiasm!

  • Special thanks go to Monika Gautam, from Austin, Texas, U.S.A for helping me managing, qualifying and administrating this project.

Stay tuned for ongoing updates in the FR project, and the First-Steps world in general.
