HP have released a new patch, which allows QTP 9.2 users to open QTP 9.5, thus allowing for a much smoother transition to the new version.
This patch breaks the long line of poor backward compatibility by past QTP versions, and we hope that future versions of QTP will continue this newly founded tradition.
You can download the patch from HP’s support site Here (requires HP support account).
The patch is very small (~5MB), and installs quite easily. It’s install wizard is pretty straight forward, and it will only work if you have QTP 9.2 installed (QTP 9.5 users will receive an enigmatic error message).
Once the patch is applied, you’ll be able to open QTP 9.5 tests without problems (at least from the very short check I’ve made).

Does anyone know how to automatically get around the prompt to upgrade the script from 9.2 to 9.5, our issue is having to open all our scripts in 9.5 before we can run them.

Hi Yaron,
Once the QTP patch referenced above is installed, can QTP 9.2 users modify QTP 9.5 scripts?
Thanks,

Sadly, no.
It will open the test at a read-only mode, so no update is possible.
